Our Impact
Meet Lisa Worrell
Board Member and Literacy Advocate
As a former ACPL employee, Lisa brings an important perspective as board member of the ACPL Foundation and Friends of the ACPL. Her years as branch manager at the Pontiac Branch library gave Lisa a unique appreciation for the Allen County Public Library and its impact on our community.
Take a moment to watch this video as Lisa describes the impact of the Friends of ACPL partnership with Genesis Outreach, a program dedicated to the preservation and reunification of area families through self-sufficiency and long-term sobriety.
This collaboration between Friends of ACPL and Genesis Outreach highlights the importance of literacy to families in need. After watching this video, consider becoming a Friend of the Allen County Public Library by clicking DONATE at the top of this page.
Audio Reading Service
Our Audio Reading Service reaches over 80,000 people who are print-disabled through our 24/7 special radio broadcast. Over 125 volunteers come to our studio regularly to read newspapers, obituaries, grocery ads, magazines, short stories, histories, and public service announcements.
Our listeners gain access to information and a connection to local activities and services because of our broadcasts. Whether our users access our service via shortwave radios, online streaming, or podcasts, our service is free to the public. We provide radios free of charge for use in homes and also collaborate with local hospitals and nursing homes to provide this service to their patients.
There are a variety of ways to support Friends of ACPL and the ACPL Foundation.
